One of the many stupas (Buddhist temples) in Kathmandu. I think this one is Thahiti at the south end of
Tamel. It all got a bit confusing after a day of sightseeing while trying to avoid
all the rickshaw peddlers, the taxi touts, the 'Tiger Balm' sellers and the hashish
hawkers. Here's Anne walking round it in the correct direction - clockwise.
There are hundreds of temples and shrines all over
the city, large and small, Buddhist and Hindu. Some even appear to do for both! The
Nepalis seem to be pragmatic in everything. If they are passing then they will dive
in, say a few Hail Marys and then carry on. At lunchtime they may take their food
with them and stop to chat with friends.
